While I’m a strong proponent of taking action and being productive, I have also discovered that sometimes the best action is no action at all.

For example, here I was plodding along, working on one of my books with my own self-imposed deadline. I was really pushing myself, when suddenly, wham! – I was hit with the flu. That thing had me lying on my back for an entire day!

Now I’m not going to tell you that I enjoyed being sick. Having fever, chills and a pounding headache was no picnic. Yet I had a sneaking suspicion that the situation wasn’t all bad.

Why? Having the flu forced me to do something that I would not have done otherwise – rest my body for an entire day. Could it be that this rest was something that my body desperately needed?

Our bodies were not made to go on and on without rest. And getting rest actually makes us work better, because it rejuvenates us.

So my advice to you is, don’t push and push your body until you end up getting the flu – take a break and rest!
