Time for You to Breathe!

The other day I forgot to pick up something at the mall, and decided to dash across to get it. However, not wanting to get all dolled up again for what would be a 30 minute trip, I left my old shirt on, threw on a pair of jeans, and covered my messy hair with a large headband.

Not looking exactly my best, I was hoping to not run into anyone I knew, or at least if I did, I hoped they would not recognize me. My attempt to accomplish this consisted of slipping on my sunglasses, and parking towards the back of the mall.

Would you believe, that as soon as I stepped out of the car, I saw someone I knew? Giving her a friendly wave, I walked a few steps and ran into another acquaintance. We exchanged a few pleasantries, and I headed towards the drugstore which was my destination. However before I got there, I met another old friend (all this happened towards the back of the mall!)

After saying goodbye to my friend, I finally made it to the drugstore, rounded the corner of one of the aisles and – you guessed it – met up with another acquaintance. I gave her a friendly greeting, picked up the item I had come for, and then made my way back home.

Interestingly, those persons that I met would never guess that I was hoping to not see anyone, and do you know what? – They didn’t need to.

You see, just because I didn’t get my way in that circumstance, and was not able to remain incognito, doesn’t mean that my friends and acquaintances deserved an unfriendly greeting from me.

And just because things don’t go your way sometimes, don’t be a baby and pout about it, and let the whole world know that you’re not happy about the situation. You can still choose to have a good attitude, and be good to other people, when you don’t get what you want.
